This chess set was a Christmas present for my dad in 2006. I made it off the clock at a machine shop I was working in at the time & it was a good way to familiarize myself with the Mazak lathe the shop had.
The thing that is most memorable about this project is how ugly my piece designs were until I showed them to my artist friend. I drew my clunky design for him & with some changes that were very easy to implement into the CAD drawing he made them beautiful! Technically very simple changes: make this straight line curved, add radii here & here. It was easy once I knew what to do, but I never would've figured it out on my own.
